Welcome to Healing Reflections
for Difficult Times
Everyone at some point in their lives, goes through difficult times. This could be due to having trouble coping with grief or for personal or professional reasons. It could be because of problems in family relationships or within ones community. A person can also experience difficulties adjusting to the political state of their nation or the world.
While everyone has their own ways of working through these problems, one method that is universal is found within one’s own, unique spiritual path. This book shares ideas, meditations, questions that can be helpful in finding and holding onto the ground of whatever and wherever resonates for each person’s particular journey with the understanding that one person’s truth might be true for them but not necessarily universal. Hopefully there will be parts of this book that the reader finds insightful or inspiring. Whether the reader agrees or not, at least some of what is shared can bring fresh insight or a new perspective. It has been written so that some the messages, poems, etc. bring comfort or joy or the ability to appreciate the beauty in life.
We make a distinction between a spiritual path and religion and do not advocate or present any particular spiritual path or thought as the right or only one to follow. Therefore the reader is encouraged to translate terms like God, Spirit etc. into whatever term or concept works best for them. For example an atheist might find that Love or human connection and responsibility, or moral, ethical living works best. A Christian might find Jesus is the word that speaks to their heart, some might connect to Adonai, Dharma or the Tao, etc. The goal is to help the reader find and see their touchstones or markers, signposts that help them navigate where their particular soul needs to stay grounded on their own unique path.
Life is a journey, an adventure. Unconditional, universal love is both the way and the destination. May this website help bring a Light that shines within you and may you have the courage to see into the shadows.
REFLECTIONS
From the Eagle’s Nest
This section includes essays, poems, and links to videos that came from individual prayer spanning 30 years. They are shared with the hope that they speak to living authentically and walking toward oneness.
From Off the
Meetinghouse Floor
This section includes prayers or messages that came to us out of the silence of our weekly corporate worship in the manner of Friends (Quaker). Grounding ourselves in that which connects us is important for healing.

Healing Reflections — Interrupting Separation
Healing Reflections shares essays, poems, and messages that came out of individual or corporate prayer that speak to our connected oneness. Grounding ourselves in that which connects us, is important for healing the separation caused by the power dynamics of white, male supremacy. This dynamic creates conscious and subconscious negative assessments of the mental, physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, artistic, and ethical capacity of women and people of color.
Whether through overt, covert, subliminal or just subtle messages entrenched since childhood, these power dynamics affects everybody. Assumptions of inferiority affect virtually all aspects of life. There are many ways supremacy is maintained including labeling anything that contradicts its beliefs as divisive. This separation can be interrupted by learning though the other websites and through listening to that which speaks to our connected oneness, including this website of Healing Reflections.
Healing Reflections –– Interrupting Separation
Healing Reflections shares essays, poems, and messages that speak to our connected oneness. Grounding ourselves in that which connects us, is important for healing the separation caused by conscious and subconscious negative assessments of the mental, physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, artistic, and/or ethical capacity of marginalized groups such as women and people of color.
This separation can be interrupted by learning though the other websites and through listening to that which speaks to our connected oneness, including this website of Healing Reflections.

We are all part of a whole, called by us the “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security. — Albert Einstein
