A Story

Reflections — From the Eagle’s Nest

Who are We?
Beyond our titles or what we do for a living;
Beyond the kinship of parents,
Beyond all names for our various identities,
genders, religions, social status,
Beyond our politics, disabilities
(that everyone has in one way or another);
Beyond oppression of race and others

Patience and Fortitude

Reflections — From Off the Meetinghouse Floor

To survive difficult times means having the fortitude to persevere. It means holding onto resilience and compassion with a spiritual tenacity. It means no matter what, taking that one step after the next step and staying connected to each other. Fortitude means we don’t give up. This fortitude and the strength to hold onto hope can bring us through looming troubles with our spiritual essence intact, both as individuals and in community.

From Worship to Witness

Reflections — From the Eagle’s Nest

It’s one thing to hear a voice. It’s another to hear what is asked . God is, in essence, love, and it’s our job to manifest this in the world. What is wanted from us is to do our part to build a world of peace. The ultimate wish for us is that we live in such a world: a world of harmony, faith, beauty, and joy.  … We are joined together in Light, in Love, in oneness, to heal in order to connect fully with that which is eternal.

WHAT CONNECTS

HEALING REFLECTIONS, THE HEALING RACISM TOOLKIT, LIVES ON THE CLOTHESLINE, and THE JOURNEY OF HEALING?

Healing Reflections –– Interrupting Separation

Healing Reflections shares essays, poems, and messages that came out of individual or corporate prayer that speak to our connected oneness. Grounding ourselves in that which connects us, is important for healing the separation caused by the power dynamics of white, male supremacy. This dynamic creates conscious and subconscious negative assessments of the mental, physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, artistic, and ethical capacity of women and people of color.

Whether through overt, covert, subliminal or just subtle messages entrenched since childhood, these power dynamics affects everybody. Assumptions of inferiority affect virtually all aspects of life. There are many ways supremacy is maintained including labeling anything that contradicts its beliefs as divisive. This separation can be interrupted by learning though the other websites and through listening to that which speaks to our connected oneness, including this website of Healing Reflections.

Healing Reflections –– Interrupting Separation

Healing Reflections shares essays, poems, and messages that speak to our connected oneness. Grounding ourselves in that which connects us, is important for healing the separation caused by conscious and subconscious negative assessments of the mental, physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, artistic, and/or ethical capacity of marginalized groups such as women and people of color.

This separation can be interrupted by learning though the other websites and through listening to that which speaks to our connected oneness, including this website of Healing Reflections.

We are all part of a whole, called by us the “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security. — Albert Einstein
